Wild Action Means More Action

While playing games such as blackjack I am always aware of approximately how many cards and of which type could allow me to win the hand or in some cases lose the hand. I know that if there are five cards with a value of ten in the top row chances are the dealer does not have a ten underneath. Therefore, if given the chance I would bet accordingly. I think it would be fair to say that any blackjack player who knew how many ten’s and aces were left in the deck after each hand would bet more if such a rule existed. The same can be said of online poker. In a normal five card stud game there are quite a number of ways to win. However, knowing that a pair of ten’s or better is usually the minimum criteria, some players tend to shy away from placing large bets until they have turned a small profit.

I wonder what would happen to the overall average of amounts bet in online poker if there were two wildcards in each computer deck bringing the total number of cards to fifty-four. With two more cards that could give the player a better chance of winning with a pair of ten’s or better, I would be willing to lay down some money on the fact that more money would be bet on each individual hand. The mindset of a gambler is “make it easier for me to win and I will probably play longer and more aggressively.” This holds very true in games where a player is losing but still believes he will make his money back. It is all about the perception of the player and everyone at one time or another has felt that way about a game in either a land-based on virtual casino. I have to admit that an online poker game with a wild card might just make me dig into my wallet to look for my credit card.
