Land-based bingo halls can be a very loud, busy and high-paced environment for some people. Others may find that bingo halls make them nervous. The most common complaint I hear about bingo halls these days from most of the people who participate are that halls are now filled with players who do not respect the needs of others for a quiet room with little background noise to put the focus on the numbers being called. I for one have seen it happen a million times. Someone will be playing bingo a few seats away from me with a group of their friends. The caller will be about ten numbers into a game and from four different directions half the room turns to hear a loud plea that sounds something like “SHHHHHH, BE QUIET!!!” I know how I would feel if I was told something like that by a stranger. In actuality, I have.
I remember telling a woman that the reason that the bingo halls put up television screens is so that she can see the number in case she cannot hear it. It probably did not come out quite like that but I digress. Despite my feelings about players at bingo halls who have a need for a quiet playing environment to be somewhat unrealistic, I do respect that a lot of players are trying to find a number on about twenty cards and cannot be thrown off their game. That is why the simple solution for these types of players is the world of online bingo. Their personal dwelling can be as noisy or quiet as they would like it to be. A bingo player has the same right to play in a noise-free dwelling as much as a professional tennis player has the right to serve in a stadium where nobody is moving or speaking. Online bingo players deserve their game in peace. I wonder if noise complaints by tenants in a building will begin to revolve around a resident who is being distracted while engaged in an online bingo tournament.
