There are hundreds of different candy bars on the market. Some have coloured shells and others contain nut products and caramels in their contents. Recycle the same game over and over packaged with a different concept and the results produced will prove that each separately packaged product will cater to a different target audience.
How many times have you caught yourself browsing through an online casino and said to the person next to you, “look it’s the Flaming 7’s” or “Wow check out the Fireball Challenge” Genius if you ask me. This is how the casino industry has thrived on play over the years. With card games no matter how hard you try, blackjack will always be blackjack. You can change the colour of the tables and put fancy cup holders on it but it will still be the same game. Slots however, can be made to appear as different games if you change the name of the game, add a bonus game to the primary game or attach a famous movie, television show or celebrities’ face to the slot.
In my opinion this marketing strategy has taken a game that some may view as mind numbing a put a little bit of the fun back into gambling. I may not be so excited about a slot machine standing alone in an online slot room. However, if you add some fancy graphics and attach a famous name to the game I may just be that much more likely to play.
