A Memory? Online Bingo Has Amnesia
One of the most common things I hear about blackjack is that players enjoy participating because the game has a memory. A blackjack shoe only has a limited number of cards available in each denomination. Therefore, that can make it easier for the player to track their odds of success on each individual hand. Other games however, like roulette and craps are played on an individual basis where nothing that has happened previously will affect the present or the future. If a seven is rolled in craps or the number thirty two comes up on the roulette wheel, the next roll or spin will be completely independent of the previous one and as such the spin following will have no bearing on what will be rolled or spun next. Online bingo is of a similar nature. It is for this reason that players’ would do themselves a favour by taking the time to realize that online bingo is a game where the winner is determined by a set of random numbers appearing in no particular order.
The only facet of online bingo that is similar to blackjack is that once a number is called in a particular game, it cannot be called again until that game is over and the next one has begun. I have seen on many occasions where a player will send a card back to a runner working at a bingo hall for the purpose of obtaining a replacement because they do not like the numbers that appear on that card. It does not occur to them at the time that once a game is over and new one begins, that all the balls go back into the same bin and have a an equal chance of being pulled out by the caller whether they were pulled during the previous game or not. Superstitions are surely fine when it comes to bingo. It is understandable not to want a card if you truly believe that numbers fifteen to twenty are rarely called until the second half of the session. All I require is an understanding that a player sending a card back has the knowledge to realize that there is no logical reason for that card to come back and that it is simply a habit-forming behaviour.
