The profile of online gaming was also increased by consumers who accessed such sites through their mobiles.
There was also an increased correlation between the number of mobile phone users and the number of internet users with 25 per cent of all web users possessing a mobile phone.
Video uploading also proved to be a popular activity with eight per cent of internet users participating in this.
