Online gaming has proved so popular with consumers that a new report has predicted that revenues from the sector will double by 2010.
The new report from Screen Digest, titled Online Gambling: Forecasts and Assessments to 2010, predicts that the industry spend will increase from £660 million to £1.6 billion in the year 2010.
And with online bingo proving increasingly popular, sites such as InterBingo.com will no doubt benefit from the huge industry growth.
Among the reasons for the surge of the online gaming sector is the affinity consumers feel with the simplicity of new gaming formats, which are accessible to all of the mass market.
And it is not just the revenues that will double as the online gambling industry has increased its UK client base from 1.1 million in 2005 to 2.1 million in 2006.
The report also found that while in the past from 2000 onwards the industry has been driven by the emergence of a 'hard core' gaming market, the future of the industry lies in simpler gambling formats which are accessible to a much greater market demographic.
